BANGKOK, 9 January 2018: Japan, South Korea and Singapore are the most popular destinations for Thai travellers booking Airbnb, the home sharing platform reported Monday.
Airbnb made the observations in its annual look-back at the year’s travel trends that revealed new insights into travel in Thailand.
With over 1,151,000 Airbnb guest arrivals in Thailand in 2017 – a 67% year-over-year growth from 2016 – Airbnb monitors the trends that indicate Thailand’s popularity with domestic and international travellers has no sign of slowing down.
Airbnb’s data shows Thai guests have travelled to over 100 different countries and six continents in the past year, including non-traditional destinations like Bolivia and Zimba bwe.
But the data shows Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Great Britain, France, Italy and U.S are the most popular spots.
Top city destinations for Thai Travellers in 2017 were:
Tokyo; Osaka: Seoul; Kyoto; Singapore; London; Fukuoka; Paris; Sapporo; Rome; Milan and Los Angeles.
Domestic tourists are also using Airbnb with Khon Kaen, Chonburi and Hat Yai report big growth rates of 139%, 150% and 204% year-on-year respectively.
The post popular destinations for Airbnb bookings were Pattaya, Bangkok, Hua Hin and Chiang Mai.
Airbnb in Thailand is appealing to more international visitors with the big users coming from China, US, Singapore, Malaysia and Great Britain.
