AirAsia began flying between Macao and Phuket on Monday (January 8). Chief executive Celia Lao said there was keen interest in the route at both ends after seats went on sale in October.
That’s attributed to Macao being a popular destination for Thai tourists and Phuket being well known among Chinese travellers.
Thai AirAsia has four Don Mueang-Macao flights a day, one daily Chiang Mai-Macao flight and four flights per week between Pattaya (U-tapao Airport) and Macao.
The new service means AirAsia operates 72 weekly flights connecting Macao to Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Pattaya, Kuala Lumpur, Manila and Johor Bahru in Malaysia.
